PARADISE POINT RESORT & SPA POISED TO COMPLETE EXTENSIVE UPGRADES TO MEETING SPACE, GUEST ROOMS
Nearly $20 Million Renovation To Be Complete in February
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (January 5, 2010) – A longtime island paradise in the heart of San Diego, Paradise Point Resort & Spa will emerge with a fresh new look this spring following an extensive $20 million renovation of its 462 bungalow-style guestrooms and expansive bay front meeting facilities.
According to Geoff Young, Vice President, Managing Director of the popular resort on San Diego’s Mission Bay, more than 35,000 square feet of meeting space was recently redone, and the property is slated to complete the enhancement of its popular guestrooms – all individual drive-up cottages -- by late February 2010. A pristine island retreat known for its intimate residential-style bungalows, the resort will sport an exotic South Pacific-style motif, inspired by lush tropical gardens of hibiscus, palms and bougainvillea, set against a breathtaking waterfront backdrop.
Masterminded by Seattle-based Dawson Design Associates, the redesigned guest rooms will exude a sense of calm, with an airy yet sophisticated color scheme of coral, turquoise, celery and gold; and edgy fine touches such as leopard-patterned rugs; modern South Pacific-style furnishings made from sleek hardwoods such as teak, mahogany and kapur, and compelling contemporary artworks. Furthering the Asian motif: handcrafted Batik-style bed throws custom-made for the resort in Java and black bamboo porcelain tile floors. Expansive windows bring the outdoors in – flooding each room with natural light and capturing garden, lagoon or bayside views.
The resort’s spacious accommodations range from the 5,000-square-foot presidential suite to the 450-square-foot standard guest rooms. Each room is outfitted with chic marble or granite bathrooms; flat-screen plasma TVs and wireless Internet access, as well as private patios, and many suites also offer extensive wet bars and dining areas.
Refurbished Meeting Space Continues Asian Theme
With sweeping views of either San Diego’s Mission Bay or the lush tropical gardens, the refurbished meeting facilities also sport a handsome contemporary style infused with subtle Asian nuances. A far cry from the sterile event rooms so often found in hotels and resorts, this resort’s stunning event space now evokes a definitive wow factor. Design details are in abundance here – and include dramatic inlaid wood ceilings, natural slate and river stone flooring, mother of pearl and walnut wall paneling, abstract light fixtures, sturdy carpeting in a curvilinear pattern, oversized chandeliers lending soft light and contrast, rattan and bamboo accents and striking modern art, sculptures and furnishings. The resort’s new event facilities encompass 29 meeting and banquet rooms and three ballrooms – collectively spanning more than 35,000, square feet – all completely equipped for events of all sizes.
