Vintage Cocktail Recipe: '62 Barefoot Blockbuster

In honor of our legendary bar’s 50th birthday, we decided to put together a special menu of retro cocktails worthy of both Don Draper and Paradise Point founder/Oscar-winning producer Jack Skirball.

The Barefoot Blockbuster is a unique cocktail recipe that was featured on the Barefoot Bar & Grill’s original 1962 menu with the tagline “Test our bombshelter with a real bomb!”, alluding to the fact that the restraint was designed to double as a bunker given the then-imminent threat of nuclear attacks.

Use this vintage cocktail recipe to pour one for yourself at home, or drink it in along with views of Mission Bay every Sunday this summer at the Dos Equis Sunday Fun Day Summer Concert Series at Barefoot.

62’ Barefoot Blockbuster Vintage Cocktail Recipe:

  • 3/4oz Peach Schnapps
  • 3/4oz Melon Liquor
  • 1/2oz Myers Dark Rum
  • 1oz Banana Puree
  • 3oz Pineapple Juice
  • Garnished with fresh pineapple and maraschino cherry
