Sustainable Brands: The King of Green Meetings in San Diego
For an environmentally friendly meeting that will make others green with envy, consider gathering where the world’s most sustainable companies convene to inspire and innovate.
Recognized as a top destination for green meetings in San Diego, Paradise Point has been chosen as the host site for the 2013 Sustainable Brands Conference attended by more than 900 visionaries from businesses including Target, Unilever, Coca-Cola, and BMW that are interested in profitable sustainability.
Selected for its 44-acre island setting on Mission Bay and on-going green meeting initiatives, Paradise Point’s expansive waterfront conference center will be home to workshops and lectures devised to drive innovation in sustainable design and business, with the green San Diego hotel’s eco-friendly practices serving as examples of how companies can be run successfully without harming the environment.
Some of Paradise Point’s top green meeting practices include:
- Linen-less meeting rooms
- Paperless system for applications, paychecks, and purchase order form
- LED lighting throughout the property
- No-water urinals
- Specialized irrigation system that prevents bay run-off
- “Green Seal Certified” cleaning products
- Purchasing food and water sourced from within 500 miles
- All-electric car2go car-sharing program for guest use around San Diego
Shortly before the hosting the biggest green meeting of the year, additional recognition for Paradise Point’s preservation efforts was announced at the Surfrider Foundation’s annual fundraiser, held in the hotel’s aptly named Sunset Ballroom overlooking Mission Bay. The 462-room hotel received an award for its sustainability and role as one of the largest contributors to the local chapter of the foundation, a non-profit that works to protect oceans, waves, and beaches around the globe.
