Real San Diego Weddings: Erik + Katie

As part of the Paradise Point wedding team, I have the pure privilege of working with some of the most fabulous to-be-wed couples from San Diego and beyond. They’re smart, stylish, and want a classic wedding celebration includes a little Southern California flair and a lot of fun.

Recently married Erik and Katie were just that, plus their ceremony and reception details were as vibrant and stunning as they are.  Read the story of what brought this delightful duo together, and what led them to choose to say have their San Diego wedding in Paradise.

As told by Katie Koentje

Our Story:

We grew up 300 miles apart. We went to college 400 miles apart. We moved 3,000 miles away from home...and found each other!

How We Met:

We met in the most romantic of all places....a three person cubicle. With the two of us both having "tje" at the end of our names it must have been fate. Throw in a broken down Jeep, a crazy roommate, an adorable puppy and the rest is history!

Why Paradise Point:

Being from the East Coast we knew we wanted to get married in a setting that was unique to San Diego; Paradise Point represented that! We loved the privacy of the ceremony locations at Paradise Point. The entire property is beautiful and we knew all our guests would feel like they truly escaped to paradise. From the moment we took a tour of Paradise Point, we knew it was the spot for our big day. We loved how many great photo spots there where on the property (it was important to us to get great photos and not miss too much of the party!) Our Catering Manager Julie was a big part of why we loved Paradise Point so much. She worked with our coordinator to make all of our visions come to life. We could not have chosen a better venue for the biggest day of our lives!

The Day Of:

I was so relaxed sitting in the hair and makeup chair on my wedding day looking out onto the bay, I knew everything was being taken care of by Paradise Point and my coordinator Erica Hinshaw of Joie De Vivre. We couldn't have asked for better weather! The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception where all just how I imagined! The ballroom was transformed and everything was perfect! The food was amazing - our guests are still talking about the lobster bisque!!
