I love Paradise Point and so does my family! As a 44-year-old San Diego native, I grew up in Point Loma and we would visit Vacation Village most summers with other families for fun on “the island” - building sand castles, riding bicycles and playing miniature golf.
As I got into my 20’s I spent many Sunday nights at the Barefoot Bar with my friends – and met many new friends. I spent my 30th birthday aboard a Mission Bay cruise with 30 of my best friends, and we had a fun stop at the Barefoot Bar for old times’ sake.
Now that I’m married with young children of my own, I wanted to share the island experience with them. Last December, I surprised them (and my husband) with a weekend away at the Paradise Point. We had a beautiful bayfront room where we built sandcastles, had dinner at the Barefoot Bar & Grill, wrote “Merry Christmas 2010” with seashells and later had a bonfire with s’mores. We met many people that night as we watched the amazing boat parade pass by.
My son asked to go back to the “local Hawaii” again this year. I hope I can treat them again as it was one of the best family vacations we have ever had – and it’s in our own backyard! Thanks for the memories.
