Biking Paradise - The Best Bike Routes in San Diego

There are few better ways to explore the California coast than via beach cruiser.  This green and good-for-you method of transportation is quintessential to SoCal and perfect for enjoying the San Diego weather while checking out the sites. There’s no question that the Mission Bay and Mission Beach area that our island resort is tucked away in is one of the best places to bike ride in San Diego.  With over 14 miles of bike paths offering views of the bay or beach, this mostly flat area is perfect for a leisurely afternoon pedal.

Guests have recently been telling us that they don’t like having to rely on a car to explore the area, so we listened and bought a whole new fleet of 25 beach cruisers and 10 four-wheeled surreys for up to 6 people.  While the surreys have to stay on hotel grounds, guests can now take the beach cruisers off property and discover Mission Bay on their own.

My favorite route from the resort is south over the Ingraham Street bridge past SeaWorld, then west up and over another bridge (W Mission Bay Drive) which ends at Belmont Park and the Giant Dipper Rollercoaster in Mission Beach.  You can then continue up or down the boardwalk along the sand where there are various shops, restaurants, street performers, and plenty of gorgeous ocean views.

Whether you want to journey to the beach, or just explore our San Diego resort, next time you’re here, definitely come scope out our amazing new fleet of beach cruisers and surreys.  You can check out a map and plan your San Diego bike ride route before you arrive here, or wing it and grab one when you rent your bike.

Happy biking!
